Joanna Stalnaker, Chair of Literature Humanities, Addresses the Class of 2023
Published: September 26, 2019
At this year’s Academic Assembly for the Class of 2023, the first session of LIterature Humanities was held for the entire first-year class. While students were in the process of reading their very first Core text, The Iliad, Stalnaker addressed the question of how to think about a canon and the many voices that can engage with a canon, referring to two assigned texts: Chapter III of A Room of One’s Own by Virginia Woolf and “Unspeakable Things Unspoken” by Toni Morrison.
Listen to her words of guidance to the newest class as they begin their Core Curriculum experience.
